London to Ulaanbaatar
15,000 km of Blood Sweat & Tears

Leaving Goodwood Racing circuit UK on the 23rd of July "Team MDA" will travel 15,000 km's through Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and their final destination of Mongolia.

The roads will comprise of desert, mountains, dirt tracks and bandits in a tiny car - a car your Granny would use for shopping ….. that’s the adventure Melbourne based aircraft engineer and photographer Leon M Struk (33) along with Irish born, San Francisco based business executive Ian Casey (38) will be heading off in late July in a bid to raise much needed funds for medical research through Muscular Dystrophy Australia.

The Mongol Rally is hurling yourself at 1/3 of the Earth's surface in woefully unsuitable vehicles to see what happens. No GPS, no maps, no clue and no idea…  just keep driving toward the rising sun and hope you get there in one piece

Leon and Ian will form one of 200 teams driving in the Mongol Rally.  Each team will choose their own route from London to Mongolia in a tiny vehicle of no greater than one litre in engine capacity and totally unsuitable for the rough terrain ahead. With no backup vehicle, support crew or roadside assist at the end of a ‘phone line, Leon and Ian will have to rely on their own ingenuity to overcome breakdown or mechanical problems they may encounter. They will also have to figure out how to cross streams, rivers and other seemingly impassible sections of the 15,000 km route in this car.
